The full trek to San Gabriel is probably my favorite hiking experience. Accomplished this feat back in February after one failed attempt (got lost less than a mile from the top the first time). I’ll likely go for a Mount Lowe + San Gabriel Peak combo later this Fall, which would be a new personal record for distance (my max is 23 miles).
At Echo Mountain… we’re just getting started:
One of my go-to smoke break spots just behind that rock up ahead. Plenty of dirt and rock, plus I use an electric lighter so no fire-risk:

A good ways past the Mt Lowe Campground, 2-3 miles from the peak:
Nature is sexy as hell:

Whoever thinks SoCal doesn’t have Fall colors just doesn’t know where to look:
Forgot to unpause the Apple Watch for anywhere between 0.5-1.0 miles. So for the record, this was definitely a 19+ mile hike (iPhone says 19.5).
